HOUSING DISCRIMINATION CHECKLIST

1) The client is a protected class member
He/She has a disability that impairs a major life function

2) The client applied and is qualified to rent the apartment unit

3) The landlord knows that he client is a protected class member and denies the apartment to the client

4) The apartment remains available to similarly situated individuals not in the protected class


In Eviction Context

1) The client is in a protected class

2) The client met the minimum standards for tenancy

3) The landlord know the client is a protect class member and evicts or threatens to evict the client

4) There are other similarly situated individuals not in protected class that remain in the units


Additional Lease Provision

1) The client is in protected class

2) The client applied and is qualified

3) The landlord know the client is in the protected class and makes an additional lease provision

4) An additional lease provision is not required of other persons similarly situated and not in the protected class
